Undergraduate(Bachelor of Engineering)

           

A candidate who has passed the Qualifying Examination(Q.E.) (two years of Pre University examination) from recognized University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio‐Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained an aggregate minimum of 45% marks in the optional subjects in the Q. E. is eligible for Engineering / Technology courses. 40% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST, Category I and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) Category candidates. Provided that, the marks obtained by the candidate in Bio‐Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science in the Q. E., will be considered in place of Chemistry, in case the marks obtained in Chemistry is less for required aggregate percentage, only for the purpose of determination of eligibility.

     

Lateral Entry to B.E.

  • Diploma Holders

A candidate who has passed any diploma examination or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of 45% marks taken together in all the subjects of the final year (Fifth and sixth semester) diploma Examination (Q.E) is eligible for admission to B.E courses, and 40% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Backward Classes of Karnataka candidates.

 

  • B.Sc. Degree Holders

A candidate who has passed B.Sc. degree from a recognized university as defined by UGC with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and passes XII standard with mathematics as a subject. Provided that in case of students belonging to B.Sc. stream shall clear the subjects of engineering graphics/drawing and engineering mechanics of the first year along with 2nd year subjects.

 

Postgraduate (Masters of Technology)

The candidates seeking admissions to 1st Semester of Master of Technology programme shall have passed B.E examination of KBN  Engineering College or any other recognized University / Institute. The candidates should have secured not less than 50% of marks in aggregate of all the year of degree examination.

 

The candidates who have completed their degree examination through distance modes of education from any University are not eligible to M.Tech Course.

 

The Candidate should be GATE qualified or should have appeared for Entrance Examinations conducted by the Authority recognized by the Government   (PGCET) or by KBNU.

 

For a Foreign degree equivalence certificate issued by Association of Indian University (AIU) is essential

 

The candidates who have qualified in the GATE examination in appropriate branch of Engineering are exempted from entrance examination and are given preference.

 

If the sufficient number of  GATE candidate are not available the seat shall be allotted from the candidates qualified in the Entrance Examination.

 

Ph.D.

The candidates for admission to Ph.D programme of the University shall have:

 

Master’s Degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory, regulatory body, with atleast 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in  UGC 7 – point scale (or an equivalent grade in the  point scale wherever the grading system is followed),

 

OR

An equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in the that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards or educational institutions. 

 

OR

M.Phil. Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 – point scale in the M.Phil. Program with coursework,

 

Provided further that essential qualifications prescribed in Clause “a” for different disciplines, may be amended by the Academic Council based on the guidelines of the UGC/other Regulatory Bodies, issued from time to time.

 

 The University may fix the short listing criteria, if considered necessary, higher than the minimum eligibility criteria defined in Clauses “a” & “b” and/or desirable criteria such as candidates must have a valid score in NET/GATE/KSET/equivalent in their respective discipline.

  

The relevant areas of specialization in the Master’s/M.Phil. Degree (as per Clauses “a” & “b” for eligibility to a Ph.D. program in a specific discipline or interdisciplinary areas offered by a particular Department shall be as per the guidelines issued by the Research and Innovation Council from time to time.

  

A candidate who appears for the final year or final semester of the post-graduate degree examination will also be eligible to appear in the admission test  subject to the fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria (Clauses “a” & “b”) in the result thereof.

  

A candidate whose M.Phil. Dissertation has been evaluated, but viva-voice is pending, is eligible to appear in the admission process subject to the fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria in the result thereof.

 

  1. Vocational Courses or Job Oriented Courses

  • D.VOC- candidates who have completed SSLC from institutes recognized by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board

  • B.Voc- candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent level of examination from government recognized institution.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

50% of seats are allotted through KEA CET and the other 50% through Khaja Banda Nawaz University entrance exam which will be tentatively held on the last week of month of May for BE and last week of month of July for M.Tech

Facilities:

  • The College has an excellent Centralized Computer Centre for students and staff with internet access.

  • The laboratories are well equipped with   proper hardware and software and computing facilities as per the university syllabus. Association libraries at department level are also present.

  • The College has well established Central Library with volumes of different disciplines of engineering.

  • E resources comprising of national and international journals, E books etc can be accessed from anywhere, with any device within the college campus through E library “IEEE-EL”,  “KNIMBUS”, SPRINGER, ASME,ASCE,TAYLOR AND FRANCIS,PROQUEST ENGG+ management, DIGIBOOK KOPYKITAB, NET ANALYTICS SENTENTIA.

  • Separate Hostel facilities are provided to boys and girls in vicinity of the college managed by a full time Warden.

  • A sports cell and gymnasium with all necessary facilities is present within the campus.

  •  Students are encouraged to participate in zonal and state level sports events. The management under Khaja Banda Nawaz House of Sports conducts National level tournaments in cricket, hockey and football to nurture and coach young talents and inculcate true sportsmanship. A turf ground spread across 150 yards is maintained by the academy.

  • Free Medical facilities are provided to both  staff and students.

  • A Canteen which serves food with all hygiene qualities is present within the college premises.

  • Wifi enabled Campus.

  • Student amenities does not limit only to basic but we do extend our services in the form of  Khaja Banda Nawaz Souhardha Co operative ltd where the students can open their accounts and enjoy their banking facilities.

  • Placement and training Cell is committed in providing assistance to graduates in career establishment. They help in acquiring necessary technical and communication skills.  Various campus interviews are conducted and students are also informed regarding available employment opportunities. It also conducts Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP) and workshops for first generation entrepreneurs to venture on their own.

  • The College arranges various industrial visits and educational tours for final / pre final year students every year.

  • MoUs with various industries are signed to provide industry oriented hands on training and exposure by conducting variety of workshops. some of them are

  • Various Committees are formed and functional throughout the year to prevent untoward incidents and to provide counseling to students in any required matter.

  • Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) has approved grants for various proposals submitted by our college faculty.

  • Various departments of college have received grants from Modernization and Removal of obsolescence (MODROBS) to enhance the functional efficiency of laboratories.

  • Final year student’s academic projects have received grants and awards from Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST).

  • Students are encouraged to present their projects at various technical symposiums conducted across the country.

  • More than 15,000 students have graduated from KBNCE( earlier name of Faculty of Engg & Technology) and are well placed in various engineering sectors across the globe.

  • Alumni meets are regularly conducted at various places such as chapter at Jeddah, Chapter at Al Khobar, Chapter at Riyadh. Chapter at New Delhi, Chapter at Dubai, Chapter at Kuwait, Chapter at Rajasthan, Chapter at Hyderabad, Chapter at Gulbarga to name a few.
