At Khaja Bandanawaz University (KBNU), we believe that education is not limited to the classroom. Our Department of Sports is dedicated to cultivating leadership, discipline, and team spirit through vibrant and inclusive athletic programs.

 

KBN Premier League (KBNPL)

Launched in 2017, the KBN Premier League is a flagship annual T20 cricket tournament, modeled on the IPL. Eight franchise-style teams are selected through live auctions, making the tournament both strategic and thrilling for students and spectators alike.

Cricket icons like Mohammed Azharuddin (League Ambassador), Jonty Rhodes, and Herschelle Gibbs have graced the league, adding international flair. The third season was especially notable for the inclusion of South African players, fostering global sportsmanship and team diversity.

 

KBN Gold Cup

Held every four years, the KBN Gold Cup is one of the most prestigious multi-sport events hosted by KBNU. The tournament features Cricket (U-16), Hockey (U-17), and Football (U-17) matches, drawing participants from across India and abroad.

With an 18-carat gold trophy, league-cum-knockout format, and accolades like Best Bowler and Best All-Rounder, the tournament celebrates high-level talent and sportsmanship. Past winners have received Yamaha bikes, premium cycles, and professional sports kits.

The 2022 edition, held at the KBN Turf Ground, was a grand success and a testament to KBNU’s continued legacy in youth sports development.

 

KBN Riding Club

A unique initiative under the Khaja Education Society, the KBN Riding Club offers structured horse-riding lessons to students. It is one of the few university-affiliated riding clubs in the region, providing training in balance, posture, and equine care.

Located near the university sports grounds, the club hosts regular equestrian demonstrations and workshops, encouraging students to explore alternative sports and cultivate discipline and confidence.

 

Annual Sports & Cultural Fest

Our annual Sports and Cultural Fest is a week-long celebration of athleticism, creativity, and campus unity. Inter-faculty matches, track-and-field events, and cultural performances bring the entire university together in high spirits.

 

KBN U-14 Quadrangular Series

To nurture talent from an early age, KBNU organizes the U-14 Quadrangular Cricket Series. This grassroots initiative gives young athletes exposure to team play, coaching, and ethical competition — setting the stage for their future success.

 

KBN House of Sports

The KBN House of Sports is the organizing and administrative body overseeing all sports infrastructure, student participation, and athletic development at the university. It plays a vital role in promoting a culture of wellness, fitness, and fair play.
