Dr. Syed Ashfaq Ahmed, joined Khaja Bandanawaz University as Pro Vice Chancellor on 17th June 2025. A Senior Professor in the Department of Applied Geology, Kuvempu University, Karnataka with an illustrious career spanning more than 27 Years. He obtained his Ph.D degree from Bangalore University, a Young Scientist Fellow at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, Common wealth Fellow at the University of Nottingham, UK, and Visiting Professor, University of Cambridge Twice under UGC-UKIERI exchange program.

​Prof. Ashfaq Ahmed also served at Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi as Head of the Department of Geology, Dean of Schools of Earth Science, Physical Sciences, Computer Science and Dean of Students Welfare. He was a Member of Executive council and Academic Council at Central University of Karnatakaand Member of Academic Council at Kuvempu University.
Director, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Board, and Internal Quality Assurance Cell at Kuvempu University. He was instrumental in implementing NEP at Kuvempu University and served as its Nodal Office for 4 years. Additionally he has held many academic positions in universities in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.

He has Guided 13 PhD and 2 MPhil students and Published 80 Research Papers, 5 books. Completed Projects worth Rs. 1.5 Crores funded by DST, DST-NRDMS, UGC, UKIERI

Member of UGC CBCS syllabus framing Committee for Geology, Member of UGC-SAP advisory committee for Andhra University. His academic interests are in the fields of Geology, Remote Sensing and GIS applications, Digital Image Processing.
