Two-Day Workshop on Information and Cyber Security

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Khaja Bandanawaz University, organized a Two-Day Workshop on Information and Cyber Security on 12th and 13th January 2026 at the Forensic Medicine Building (Lecture Hall 2). The workshop was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about cyber threats, data security, and the legal responsibilities associated with the digital ecosystem.


The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Asma Parveen, Head of the Department of CSE and Convener of the workshop, who introduced the resource person and outlined the objectives of the programme. The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Syed Ashfaq Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor, KBNU, along with senior academic leaders of the university. In his address, Prof. Ahmed emphasized the growing significance of cyber security in both academic and professional domains and encouraged students to remain vigilant and informed digital citizens.


The technical sessions were conducted by Raza Ahmed Baig Mirza, Chief Information Security Officer (UK), who shared practical knowledge supported by real-time case studies. The sessions covered key topics such as types of cyber threats and cybercrimes, safe internet usage, password management, data privacy, cyber laws including the IT Act, and career opportunities in cyber security. The interactive nature of the sessions encouraged active participation, with students engaging in discussions and raising insightful queries.


The workshop witnessed the participation of 81 students, who benefited immensely from the expert guidance and hands-on insights shared during the programme. The valedictory ceremony was held on 13th January 2026, during which Dr. Asra Sarwath, Coordinator of the event, welcomed the gathering, followed by a presentation of the workshop highlights by Dr. Asma Parveen. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Sana Samreen, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, and distribution of participation certificates to the students.


The workshop successfully achieved its objectives by enhancing students’ understanding of cyber security challenges and empowering them to become responsible and secure digital users, in alignment with KBNU’s vision of nurturing future-ready professionals.
