Department of Sociology, KBNU observes World Tribal Day on 30th Auugust 2024 at Kaalnoor Tanda, Kalaburagi district. Promoting tribal culture and rights.
Educational Lecture:Special lecture on entitled “Personal and Community Hygiene to Improve Health Standards” was deliberated by Dr. Sameena Sindagikar, Coordinator and Head, Department of Sociology.The talk covered some of the topics like handwashing, oral hygiene, importance of clean water, personal cleanliness, etc
Traditional Crafts: The students of Department of Sociology documented traditional crafts like basket-making, which is crucial to serve as both a source of income and a means of preserving cultural identity of tribal community
Engagement through Games: The students organized varied games for fun and also to create an interactive environment for the children, fostering community spirit and teamwork. The games such as musical chair, balloon game and passing the ball were conducted for 1 to 8 standard students of government school.
Community Gathering: The visit was marked by a large community gathering where elders of tribal community shared stories and folklore, passing down the cultural knowledge to the younger generations. Refreshments were provided to the tribals, which was a gesture of appreciation and support.
Community Engagement: The visit provided an opportunity for the community to engage with outsiders, sharing their stories and challenges. This interaction was crucial for understanding the needs of the community and for developing strategies to support them.
