The Departments of Psychology and Sociology of Khaja Bandanawaz University organised the World Mental Health Programme 2025, focusing on the critical theme “Mental Health in Humanitarian Crises.” The initiative aimed to create awareness about the profound psychological consequences experienced by individuals and communities affected by war, displacement, natural disasters, and conflict. The programme addressed the need for Psychological First Aid, trauma-informed care, and community-based rehabilitation for vulnerable populations.

On 28 October 2025, a national webinar was conducted with Dr. Aswathy Gopi, Assistant Professor, SRM University–AP, as the resource person. The session saw the participation of 76 attendees nationwide. Dr. Gopi delivered an insightful lecture that explored the psychological impact of crises, highlighting conditions such as PTSD, depression, survivor guilt, long-term trauma, and the emotional burdens carried by displaced populations. She drew from her recent systematic review and meta-analysis on interventions for war-affected groups, emphasising the importance of coordinated support from governments, NGOs, and community networks for effective rehabilitation.

On 30 October 2025, on-campus activities engaged students through four thematic competitions—essay writing, poster painting, photography, and quiz. These events allowed students to creatively interpret crisis-related mental health issues. The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation, with faculty members including Ms. Rabia Ali, Dr. Sameena Sindagikar, Ms. Ardra Reghu, Dr. Azmat Khan, and Dr. Atungbou leading and coordinating the sessions. The programme concluded with an affirmation of KBNU’s commitment to promoting mental well-being and fostering informed, compassionate, and socially responsible learners. Through such initiatives, the university continues to uphold the mission of Kamal Educational Society in empowering students and strengthening community outreach.
