World Health Day 2026 Quiz Competition

To commemorate World Health Day 2026, the Department of Community Medicine organized an academic quiz competition for MBBS Phase III students on 27/04/2026. The event aimed to enhance awareness and reinforce knowledge on public health issues, preventive medicine, and global health priorities among future medical professionals. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty alike.
Inaugural Session
The program commenced with a formal inauguration. Dr. Shahnaz Shaheen (Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine) welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of World Health Day in promoting awareness about global health challenges. Dr. M A Fahim (Professor, Department of Community Medicine), Quiz Master for the competition briefed the students about the rules of Quiz Competition.
Quiz Competition
The quiz competition was structured into multiple rounds to assess both theoretical knowledge and practical understanding:
Students were asked to register for the competition as a team of 3 members.
Preliminary Round: Preliminary qualifying MCQ test was conducted on 24/04/2026 to shortlist participating teams
Top 5 teams were shortlisted for final quiz competition on 27/04/2026
The quiz comprised of four rounds
Round 1: (Primary / Direct Questions) – Direct questions with one word answers. Each team faced 5 questions.
Round 2: (Visual Identification/ Image based) – Identification of diseases, signs, public health logos and health campaigns through images. 3 images per team.
Round 3: (Dumb Charades) - In this segment, students were required to enact terms, diseases or public health themes related to Community Medicine without speaking, while their teammates attempted to guess the correct answer. This round was designed to test participants’ ability to communicate medical concepts non-verbally.
After each round, team with the lowest score was eliminated. In the final round 2 teams faced rapid fire questions and one team with more correct answers was declared winner.
Final Round: (Rapid Fire) – two teams were left in this round. This round tested students’ quick recall and decision-making skills. Each team faced set of ten questions in one minute. Team with more correct answers was declared winner of the competition
Participants displayed commendable knowledge, critical thinking, and teamwork throughout the competition. The audience was also engaged through interactive questions between rounds.
Valedictory Session
The valedictory session marked the formal conclusion of the event and was conducted with dignity and enthusiasm.
The session began with introduction and felicitation of the dignitaries, followed by a Qirat (recitation of Quranic verses), setting a solemn and respectful tone for the closing ceremony. The results of the quiz competition were then announced. The winning team and the runner-up team were awarded certificates and prizes, followed by recognition of all participants for their active involvement.
The dignitaries (Dr. M A Baseer, Director, IQAC & i/c Controller of Examination, KBN University and Dr. Guruprasad K Y, Dean, FOMS - KBNU) for the valedictory session addressed the gathering, appreciating the efforts of the Department and students in organizing such an informative and engaging event. The speech emphasized the importance of continuous learning and staying updated with evolving public health challenges.
Conclusion
The quiz competition proved to be an enriching academic activity that fostered learning beyond textbooks. It encouraged students to stay informed about global and national health issues while promoting teamwork and healthy competition. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and organizers.
