An awareness Programme was organized on the occasion of World AIDS Day by department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences from KBN University campus to Ring road Via Islamabad Colony and in Tawergera(village adopted under Family Adoption Program) on 30/11/2024, 10:00am to 01:00pmand in UHTC (Khaja Bazar) and RHTC(Aurad) field practice area on 01/12/2024 under the guidance of Dr. Siddesh Sirwar, Dean, FOMS, KBN University.
Walkathon was organized with the following objectives:
Raise Awareness:Â Educate the public about HIV/AIDS, its prevention, and available treatment options.
Combat Stigma:Â Challenge the stigma and discrimination faced by individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
Promote HIV Testing and Prevention:Â Encourage people to get tested for HIV and advocate for safe practices.
Support Solidarity: Show support for those living with HIV-AIDS.
Walkathon was inaugurated by Dr. M A Baseer, Director, IQAC and DCOE, KBN University.
MBBS 2nd Phase students, Interns and staff of Community Medicine and other departmentsteaching and non teaching staff of FOMS participated in this event.
Walkathon started from KBN University campus. All the participants walked through Islamabad colony till ring road with placards, raising awareness slogans, giving educational pamphlets on HIV-AIDS to the public.
From ring road all the participants took college bus and went to Tawergera villageand continued the walkathon in the village and did door to door awareness activity.
On 01/12/2024 HIV/AIDS awareness campaign was continued in UHTC (Khaja Bazar) and RHTC (Aurad) field practice area. Interns and staff of UHTC first marched till field practice area with placards and raising HIV-AIDS awareness slogans and then did door to door awareness activity. Even the shops, small tea hotels and barber shops were also covered.
Later all the interns along with RHTC (Aurad) staff did door to door health education activity regarding HIV-AIDS and also distributed the pamphlets on HIV-AIDS information in RHTC field practice area.
