The Department of Applied Sciences, under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Khaja Bandanawaz University, initiated the three-week induction programme for the first-year B.E. students with a thoughtful and structured agenda aimed at easing the transition from school to university life. The programme began on the 10th of June, 2025, with an inaugural session graced by Prof. Ali Raza Moosvi, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor. The inaugural ceremony was followed by a session explaining the significance of the induction programme, designed to provide students with a sense of academic direction and emotional grounding. The atmosphere was both welcoming and inspiring, with faculty members emphasizing the values of discipline, diligence, and unity.
On the second day, 11th June, the focus shifted to creating awareness on student safety and academic structure. The forenoon session dealt with anti-ragging measures and their legal implications. Students were sensitized to the emotional and legal consequences of ragging and were encouraged to help build a safe and inclusive campus culture. The afternoon session introduced them to the academic rules and regulations, including the course credit system, attendance policies, evaluation methods, and grading practices. The discussion set the tone for academic responsibility and professional conduct expected from engineering undergraduates.
Day three, observed on the 12th of June, was dedicated to familiarizing students with the campus infrastructure and central facilities. A guided campus tour enabled the students to visit key areas such as the Dean's office, central library, examination and account sections, sports facilities, hostels, cafeteria, cultural club, NSS, and the placement cell. This physical orientation gave students a tangible understanding of the resources available to them and helped them feel connected to the institutional environment.
The fourth day of the programme, held on 13th June, featured two impactful sessions addressing mental and legal awareness. In the forenoon, a mental health awareness session was conducted by the university’s Student Welfare Counsellor, Ashwathi N., who highlighted the importance of emotional well-being and offered strategies to cope with stress and anxiety. This was followed by a judicial awareness session in the afternoon, which introduced students to the basics of the Indian judicial system, their constitutional rights, and the role of youth in upholding justice and democracy.
Each day of the induction programme contributed meaningfully to the overall student experience. Through lectures, interactive sessions, and on-ground activities, the students were guided to feel a sense of belonging, purpose, and readiness. The programme succeeded in laying a strong foundation for the students’ academic journey, equipping them not just with information, but with a mindset prepared for growth, responsibility, and contribution.
