VITB-JHU HEALTH HACKATHON 2026

Health Hackathon 2026 was organized by VIT Bhopal on 10, 11 and 12th February 2026 at VIT Bhopal. Khaja Bandanawaz University  emerged as the Runner Up in that. KBNU competed among 250 students. Dr. Mohammad Atif, Tutor, Community Medicine is the staff in charge.

 

 DAY – 01 (10-02-2026)

 All the teams were assembled in the Academic Block for the registration process and distribution of ID cards. The registration was conducted in an organized manner to ensure smooth coordination among participants.

 

Upon completion of the registration formalities, the participants proceeded directly to attend the workshop. The session marked the official beginning of the event and set the stage for the upcoming activities and learning experience.

  

Technical Lecture on Optical and Neural Networks – As part of the academic sessions on Day 01, an expert lecture was delivered on the significance of optical networks and neural networking in modern technological and healthcare systems. The lecturer provided a comprehensive overview of how optical networks facilitate high-speed and efficient data transmission, which is crucial for handling large-scale medical and research data. Additionally, neural networking concepts were explained in the context of artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive modeling, and intelligent decision-making systems. The lecture emphasized, The role of optical communication in improving data bandwidth and reducing latency. The application of neural networks in healthcare analytics, diagnosis support systems, and automation. The integration of AI-driven models with real-time healthcare data for proactive decision-making, Emerging trends in networking technologies that support smart healthcare infrastructure. The session enhanced participants’ understanding of advanced networking and AI concepts, which are highly relevant for healthcare-focused innovation and hackathon projects. All three teams of the KBNU attended the workshop.



DAY – 02 (11-02-2026)

During this day the first round of evaluation was conducted where all 3 teams from KBNU participated and represented their projects

  

Three teams of KBNU participated in phase-I:

 

Team Praxis  (HH-VITB-JHU-2026-161) including the students Maktedar Abubakar Siddiq, Syed Farhan Quadri, Shaikh Mohammad Burhan from CS dept, Afroz Munavalli from FOMS, made a health project on the topic Population Management Analytic Platform for Proactive Public Health Decision-Making

 

Team Vitality  (HH-VITB-JHU-2026-414) including the students including Mohammed Numan Shakeel, Saad Ali, Syed Mehmood Hussain, Areeb ANsari from FOMS made a health project on the topic Gluco-Sahayak a voice-first and message AI chat bot built directly into Whats App that serves as a 24/7 personal diabetes companion for all diabetics especially rural and elderly patients.

 

Team KBNU-B (HH-VITB-JHU-2026-445) including the students ncludng Shruti V M and Afeefa from FOMS, Abhilash Hirapur Mohammed Oweis  Azhar Ali, Shaikh Sohail Ali from FOET, made a health project on the topic  Rural Health Station Project.

 

Culutral event was organized in the evening and KBNU student Maktedar Abubakar Siddiq performed beat boxing skills in that.



DAY – 03 (10-02-2026)

Final Phase of Evaluation and Valedictory Ceremony – On this day, the final phase of evaluation for the Health Hackathon conducted by VIT Bhopal in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering was held. Out of nearly 250 participating teams, 60 teams were shortlisted and advanced to this rigorous evaluation stage. The assessment process was highly challenging, as the projects were evaluated by a distinguished panel comprising medical doctors along with industry experts. The presence of healthcare professionals ensured that each solution was examined not only for technical innovation but also for clinical relevance, feasibility, and real-world healthcare impact.

 

The interaction during the evaluation was intense and intellectually demanding, requiring teams to justify their methodologies, design choices, and implementation strategies in detail. This phase tested the participants’ domain knowledge, practical applicability of their ideas, and their ability to respond effectively under expert scrutiny.

 

Following the completion of the evaluation process, participation certificates were distributed to the teams that were eliminated during Phase-I, recognizing their contribution, innovation, and active involvement in the hackathon.

 

Later at 4:00 PM, the Valedictory Function was conducted inside the auditorium to formally conclude the event. During the ceremony, the results of the Phase-II evaluation were officially announced. It was a moment of immense pride for KBNU as Team KBNU-B secured Second Place and emerged as the Runner-Up of the Health Hackathon for presenting their idea on “Rural Health Station Project”. The team was awarded medals and a trophy in recognition of their outstanding performance along with cash price.

 

Team KBNU-B (HH-VITB-JHU-2026-445) including the students ncludng Shruti V M and Afeefa from FOMS, Abhilash Hirapur Mohammed Oweis  Azhar Ali, Shaikh Sohail Ali from FOET, made a health project on the topic  Rural Health Station Project

 

Their achievement reflected dedication, teamwork, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strong problem-solving capabilities. The event concluded on a celebratory and inspiring note, marking the successful completion of the Health Hackathon.

 

Conclusion

The workshop and hackathon provided an excellent platform for learning, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. It enhanced participants’ technical knowledge, presentation skills, and confidence while fostering a competitive yet enriching environment. The event served as a valuable experience that contributed significantly to both academic and professional growth.
