Resource Person Mr. Manohar Udachanchi, Assistant Professor and HoD, Dept. of Political Science, Government First Grade College, Dandeli, Uttarakannada. Presided by Prof. Nishat Arif Hussaini, Dean, Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences & Law. The Department of Political Science, Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Khaja Bandanawaz University, organised the lecture towards understanding the Artcile 371, its relevance and constitutional amendments. The objective of this Lecture is to enlighten the students on the Constitutional Amendments and the need of article 371 and its relevance for the development of back ward regions in the country. More than 80 students and 20 faculty members from Khaja Bandanawaz University, attended the lecture.
Guest Speeches: The guest Mr. Manohar Udachanchi, in his lecture gave the in depth information about the relevance of the article 371 and also explained the following amendments over the period of time since independence incorporated in the Indian Constitution, describing the need of article 371 and Article 371A to 371J and the special provision for Karnataka Article 371J, the speaker explained in depth historical background and the impact of Bahamani, Nizam and British rule. What made the state governments to have a special provision towards the development of the region, and also emphasised on creating awareness about such special provision not only development but also in employment and higher education in the region.
The event was presided by Professor Nishat Arif Hussaini, who, in her address, she expressed that this article 371J which is also known as Kalyana Karnataka instead of Hyderabad Karnataka, really needs the path of development and this article helps the student community in getting admission in higher education and also in public employment. She further acknowledged the department of political science for organising such an informative lecture for students.
Students/Faculty involvement: The program was organized by Dr. Tajuddin Md Assistant Professor and Mrs. Sabiha Tabbasum, Guest faculty, Department of Political Science, and student volunteers playing an active role in the organizing committee. Ms. Ayesha Anjum B.A. Sem 3, student warmly welcomed the guests and Ms. Shabana BA LLB Sem I, expressed gratitude to all at the end with the vote-of-thanks. The event saw the presence of around 100 attendees.
