Day 1: 13th July 2026
The Department of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Khaja Bandanawaz University, organized a Three-week Student Induction Programme to facilitate the smooth transition of newly admitted students into the engineering curriculum. The programme began with an inaugural ceremony featuring a welcome address by Prof. Srinivas Kalaskar, followed by anchoring by Dr. Jakeer Hussain. Dr. N. M. Maroof, Assistant Dean, Student Welfare, KBNU, addressed the gathering, while the keynote address was delivered by Dr. Subhash Kamal, Dean,FoET. Dr. S. Kamal Azam, Campus Dean, delivered an inspiring motivational talk. Heads of various departments introduced their departments, highlighting academic opportunities and facilities available to students. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Suwarna H.
Following the inaugural ceremony, Session 2 was conducted by Prof. Srinivas Kalaskar, who spoke on the Significance of the Student Induction Programme. He emphasized the importance of adapting to university life, understanding academic expectations, developing discipline, and making the most of the opportunities available during the engineering programme.
Day 2: 14th July 2026

The second day of the Induction Programme featured two informative sessions aimed at preparing first-year engineering students for their academic journey and future careers. In the first session, Prof. Md. Yousuf introduced the university's academic regulations, CBCS curriculum, programme structure, attendance requirements, evaluation system, and CGPA-based grading. He also emphasized the importance of discipline, punctuality, academic integrity, ethical conduct, and active participation in achieving academic success. The second session was delivered by Prof. Mujahid Irfan, who highlighted the wide range of career opportunities available for engineering graduates and familiarized students with major industries and IT companies in and around Kalaburagi. He explained industry expectations, workplace culture, and the technical and professional skills required for employability. Students were encouraged to strengthen their programming, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities while actively participating in internships, certifications, aptitude training, and project work to become industry-ready professionals.
Day 3: 15th July 2026

The third day of the Induction Programme focused on creating a safe and welcoming campus environment while familiarizing students with the university's facilities and support services. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Srinivas Kalaskar, followed by an awareness session on anti-ragging delivered by Dr. N. M. Maroof, Assistant Dean, Student Welfare, KBNU. He explained the meaning of ragging, emphasized that all forms of physical, verbal, mental, and online harassment are strictly prohibited, and discussed the disciplinary and legal consequences for offenders. Students were also introduced to the university's Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad, which ensure a safe and secure learning environment. The second session included a guided campus orientation, where students visited various FoET departments, the Administrative Office, Dean's Office, Central Library, and University Canteen. Faculty members explained the facilities and services available, enabling students to become familiar with the campus and confidently access university resources.
Day 5: 17th July 2026

The fifth day of the Induction Programme featured two engaging sessions that focused on communication skills, language proficiency, and cultural awareness. The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Srinivas Kalaskar, followed by an interactive session by Prof. Aliya Nasreen Begum, Guest Lecturer, Department of Applied Sciences, on oral English and the importance of English in engineering education. She emphasized that strong communication skills are essential for academic excellence, professional success, and global career opportunities, explaining why English is an integral part of the engineering curriculum. The session also included a creative paper craft demonstration by artisans from Rajasthan, encouraging students to appreciate creativity and innovation. In the second session, Dr. Raja Patel, Lecturer, Department of Applied Sciences, highlighted the importance of learning Kannada for effective communication during academics, internships, industrial visits, and professional interactions in Karnataka. He also encouraged students to understand the local culture and build meaningful relationships within the community.
Day 6: 18th July 2026
Session 1& 2 : Creative Arts by Md Moyeed Abrar, Assistant Professor, Dept of CSE, FoET, KBNU
On the sixth day of the Student Induction Programme, held on 18 July 2026, both Session 1 and Session 2 were conducted by Prof. Moyeed Abrar on the theme of Creative Arts. Through engaging discussions and interactive activities, he encouraged students to think creatively while appreciating the importance of culture, history, and innovation. He explained India's rich cultural heritage, historical legacy, and the diverse festivals celebrated across the nation, highlighting the need to preserve these traditions. The sessions also honored the contributions of India's freedom fighters and inspired students to develop a sense of patriotism and social responsibility. Prof. Abrar emphasized the significance of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, and biogas in achieving sustainable development. He further inspired students to explore fantasy, imagination, future cities, and the vision of the world in 2050. Overall, both sessions motivated students to think innovatively and contribute towards a sustainable and progressive future.
Day 7: 20th July 2026
Session 1& 2 : Cooking Without oil and Fire – Completely prepared by Students of first year
On the seventh day of the First-Year Students' Induction Programme, a "Cooking Without Oil and Fire" activity was organized to promote creativity, teamwork, healthy eating habits, and innovation among the newly admitted students. The first-year students enthusiastically participated by preparing a wide variety of nutritious and delicious dishes without using oil or fire. The event provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their culinary skills, creativity, and presentation techniques while working together in teams.
The prepared dishes were attractively displayed and explained by the students to the visitors. The exhibition was judged by Dr. Subhas Kamal, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Dr. S. K. Azam, Campus Dean; and Dr. Suwarna, who carefully evaluated the dishes based on creativity, nutritional value, presentation, and innovation. The Dean, Campus Dean, Heads of various Departments, faculty members, and staff visited the exhibition, appreciated the students' innovative efforts, and enjoyed tasting the healthy recipes prepared by them. Their encouraging interaction with the students created a welcoming and motivating atmosphere.
The best-performing teams were awarded prizes, while consolation prizes were presented to encourage and appreciate the efforts of other participating students. The activity was a grand success, fostering confidence, collaboration, healthy lifestyle choices, and stronger bonds between the students and the university community, making the seventh day of the induction programme both enjoyable and memorable.
Day 8: 21st July 2026

The eighth day of the First-Year Students' Induction Programme commenced with an inspiring Motivational Talk by Dr. Subash Kamal, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FoET), KBNU. He encouraged students to dream big, remain dedicated to their goals, and work hard to achieve success. Citing the life and achievements of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, he emphasized the importance of perseverance, discipline, and continuous learning. His inspiring words motivated the students to develop confidence and a positive attitude toward their academic journey.
After a short tea break, the second session was delivered by Dr. S. Kamal Azam, Dean, Campus, KBNU. He explained the meaning of motivation, its purpose, and why it is essential for personal growth and academic excellence. He highlighted how self-motivation helps students overcome challenges, remain focused on their goals, and build successful careers. The interactive sessions inspired students to strive for excellence and make the most of their university life.

The ninth day of the First-Year Students' Induction Programme featured activities designed to enhance students' creativity, communication, and critical thinking skills. The first session consisted of an Essay Writing Competition on the topics "Engineer Serves Society" and "Vision 2030." Students expressed their views on the significant role of engineers in solving societal challenges through innovation, technology, and sustainable development. They also shared their ideas on Vision 2030, emphasizing quality education, technological advancement, renewable energy, economic growth, and nation-building. To encourage excellence in writing, it was announced that prizes would be awarded to the authors of the two best essays, motivating students to present their ideas thoughtfully and creatively.
The second session involved Group Discussions on the topics "Internet vs. Books – Who is the Best Teacher?" and "Online Learning vs. Classroom Learning." Students actively participated by presenting balanced arguments, highlighting the advantages of both approaches. The discussions encouraged analytical thinking, effective communication, teamwork, and confidence in expressing opinions. Overall, the day's activities provided an engaging platform for intellectual exchange and personality development, making the programme informative and enriching for all participants.
Day 10 and 11: 23rd and 24th July 2026

The tenth and eleventh days of the First-Year Students' Induction Programme, held on 23 and 24 July 2026, were dedicated to promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and holistic well-being. Both Session 1 and Session 2 on both days were conducted by Mr. Akber Patel, Physical Director, along with the faculty members of the Department of Applied Sciences. The programme began with an informative presentation on the importance of sports, physical activity, and yoga in maintaining a healthy body and mind. Students were introduced to various indoor and outdoor sports available in the college, the opportunities for participation at different levels, and the formation of student teams for various sporting events.
On the second day, students enthusiastically participated in practical indoor and outdoor sports activities, gaining hands-on experience while developing teamwork, communication, leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship. Indoor games enhanced concentration, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills, while outdoor activities improved physical endurance, confidence, coordination, and cooperation. A dedicated yoga session introduced students to breathing exercises and simple asanas that promote flexibility, stress management, mental well-being, and overall fitness.
Throughout the sessions, the resource persons emphasized the importance of balancing academics with regular physical activity and encouraged students to actively participate in sports and wellness programmes. The two-day programme successfully inspired students to adopt a healthy lifestyle, develop a positive attitude towards fitness, and recognize the vital role of sports and yoga in achieving overall personality development and academic success.
Day 12: 25th July 2026

The twelfth day of the Student Induction Programme featured an expert talk on "Industry 5.2" by Mr. Nandi Vishvendra, an industry expert. The session introduced students to the evolution of Industry 4.0 into Industry 5.2, emphasizing a human-centric approach that integrates advanced technologies with human creativity and innovation. Mr. Vishvendra explained the significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), the Internet of Things (IoT), collaborative robots, digital twins, cloud computing, and big data analytics in transforming modern industries. He highlighted the importance of sustainability, resilience, and responsible manufacturing practices for future industrial growth. The speaker also encouraged students to develop essential skills such as digital literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork to meet future industry demands. Real-world applications from manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, and smart factories made the session engaging and practical. The interactive discussion inspired students to prepare for emerging career opportunities in the rapidly evolving industrial landscape.

The thirteenth day of the Student Induction Programme featured two informative sessions aimed at preparing students for their academic journey at Khaja Bandanawaz University (KBNU).
The first session on "Examination Rules & Regulations and Eligibility Criteria for Student Promotion" was delivered by Prof. Zameer Ahmed, OSD, KBNU and Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering. The session provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the university's examination system, attendance requirements, internal assessment criteria, evaluation procedures, passing standards, and promotion guidelines. Students were also informed about examination ethics, academic discipline, and the consequences of failing to meet eligibility requirements. The interactive discussion helped clarify students' doubts regarding university regulations.
The second session on "How to Appear for Exams" was conducted by Dr. Afroze Ansari, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Exam Coordinator, KBNU. The speaker shared practical strategies for effective examination preparation, including time management, systematic study planning, regular revision, and practicing previous years' question papers. Students were advised to read questions carefully, present answers neatly with appropriate diagrams, manage examination stress positively, and maintain academic integrity. The session enhanced students' confidence and equipped them with valuable techniques for achieving academic success in their engineering examinations.
Day 14: 28th July 2026
Visit to GTTC Centre Kalaburagi byFaculty members of Applied Sciences Department and students.
On the 14th day of the Student Induction Programme, first-year students, accompanied by faculty members of the Applied Sciences Department, visited the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GT&TC), Kalaburagi. The industrial visit was organized to provide students with practical exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and industrial practices. The visit began with an introductory session by GT&TC officials, who explained the centre's role in precision engineering, tool design, CNC machining, automation, and skill development. Students toured the CNC machining section, CAD/CAM laboratory, tool manufacturing unit, metrology laboratory, and quality control section. They observed the working of CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, EDM, Wire-Cut EDM, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). Experts demonstrated the complete manufacturing process, from product design to final inspection, while emphasizing quality assurance and industrial safety. The visit enhanced students' understanding of modern manufacturing techniques, strengthened their practical knowledge, and motivated them to develop industry-oriented technical skills for their future engineering careers.
Day 15: 29th July 2026

Session 2- Introduction to Admission Cell and Procedure by Md Ibrahim, Account Section, Admission Cell, KBNU
On the 15th day of the Student Induction Programme, students attended informative sessions on judicial awareness, universal human values, and admission procedures. The first session on Judicial Awareness was delivered by Prof. Jayanth Agerkhed, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, FoET, KBNU. He explained the structure of the Indian judiciary, fundamental rights and duties, constitutional values, cyber laws, anti-ragging regulations, women's safety, and the importance of legal awareness among students. This was followed by a session on Universal Human Values by Prof. Amresh Patil, Department of Civil Engineering and UHV Coordinator, PDA College of Engineering, who emphasized ethical living, social responsibility, mutual respect, and value-based decision-making for personal and professional growth. The second session, conducted by Mr. Md. Ibrahim, Account Section, Admission Cell, KBNU, introduced students to the functions of the Admission Cell, including admission procedures, document verification, fee payment, scholarships, student registration, identity cards, institutional rules, and student support services, helping them begin their academic journey with confidence.

On the 16th day of the Student Induction Programme, students attended two enriching sessions focusing on moral values and mental well-being. The first session, "Talk on Moral Education," was delivered by Janab Moulana Syed Rasheed Sahab, Barge-E-Bandanawaz (Rh). He emphasized the importance of moral values, ethical conduct, discipline, honesty, respect, compassion, and social responsibility in shaping responsible citizens. Through inspiring examples and practical guidance, he encouraged students to develop strong character alongside academic excellence and to uphold ethical values in every aspect of life.
The second session on "Awareness of Mental Health and Stress Management for Students" was conducted by Ms. Aswathy N., Student Welfare Counsellor, KBN University. She highlighted the importance of mental well-being and discussed common challenges faced by students, including academic pressure, examination stress, anxiety, homesickness, and adapting to a new environment. The session introduced practical stress management techniques such as effective time management, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, regular physical activity, mindfulness, relaxation exercises, and positive thinking. Students were encouraged to communicate openly with family, friends, teachers, and counsellors and to seek professional support whenever needed. The interactive session boosted students' confidence and equipped them with valuable strategies for maintaining emotional well-being and achieving academic success.
Day 17: 31st July 2026 : Valedictory Function
On the 17th day, the Valedictory Function marked the successful conclusion of the Student Induction Programme for the newly admitted first-year students. The programme was attended by university officials, faculty members, staff, and students. The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by the programme coordinator, who highlighted the objectives and achievements of the induction programme. The dignitaries appreciated the active participation and enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to pursue academic excellence, uphold ethical values, and maintain discipline throughout their academic journey. A brief overview of the various sessions conducted during the programme was presented. Students who had excelled in different competitions and activities organized during the induction programme were felicitated with prizes and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performances. The programme concluded with students sharing their experiences, followed by a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the university administration, resource persons, faculty members, organizing committee, and students for making the programme a grand success.
