The Inauguration of the Book Club

The Department of English, Faculty of Languages, established a Book Club at Khaja Bandanawaz University. The inauguration of the Book Club was scheduled on 26 October 2023 and lasted an hour. All the faculty members from various departments attended the Programme. The inauguration program was initiated by Ms. Zainab, Assistant Professor of the Department of English with the welcome speech. She welcomed the Dean and Chairperson, Department of English and the faculty members and students and appreciated their enthusiasm for the Book Club. This was followed by the felicitation of the President of the Book Club and the Dean, Faculty of Languages, Arts and Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Commerce, and Education, Prof. Nishat Arif Hussaini. The concept, its objectives and intended outcomes were outlined by Mohammed Shujauddin Safi, Asst. Professor, Dept. of English, in his introduction to the book Club. He added that the Book Club was an initiative at the university level to promote a reading culture among students and faculty members.  He also said that the Book Club was open for everyone and the interested individuals were requested to register themselves for a membership. The initiative was welcomed by the faculty members and students and many faculty members also expressed their thoughts. Iqra Fatima, student (MA English Semester III) recited poetry on the occasion. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Athiya Sultana, Asst. Professor, Dept. of English, who thanked Prof. Nishat Arif Hussaini, Dean, Faculty of Languages, Arts Humanities Sciences Social Sciences, Law, Commerce and Management and Chairperson, Dept. of English for her constant encouragement and support. The organisers also mentioned that the Book Club had already received more than 80 registrations and informed that the Book Club meetings would happen once a month and a book selected by the members of the Club would be discussed.
