Student Induction Programme 2026–27: Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law

The Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, successfully organized the three-day Student Induction Programme (SIP) for the newly admitted first-year B.A. and B.A. LL.B. students from 08 July 2026 to 10 July 2026 at the Seminar Hall, AHL Block. The programme was designed to familiarize students with the University environment, academic framework, institutional resources, and student support services while helping them transition smoothly into university life.

Day 1 – 08 July 2026

The programme commenced with the registration of newly admitted students, coordinated by Dr. Tajuddin Md., Coordinator, Department of Political Science, and Mrs. Qhudsia Wajid, Guest Faculty, Department of English, who welcomed the participants and facilitated the registration process.

The inaugural session was conducted with Ms. Zainab, Assistant Professor, Department of English, serving as the Master of Ceremony. The programme was formally inaugurated by Prof. Nishat Arif Hussaini, Dean, Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her inaugural address, she welcomed the students into the University community and highlighted the transformative role of higher education in shaping responsible, ethical, and socially conscious citizens. She encouraged students to actively participate in academic as well as co-curricular activities and make meaningful use of the opportunities available throughout their university journey.

The students were subsequently introduced to Khaja Bandanawaz University by Dr. Athiya Sultana, Coordinator, Department of English, who familiarized them with the University's vision, mission, academic structure, facilities, and support services. This was followed by an introduction to the various departments functioning under the Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law, enabling students to gain an understanding of the interdisciplinary academic environment within the Faculty.

An interactive session on Student Mental Health and Well-being was delivered by Ms. Aswathy, Student Welfare Counsellor, Khaja Bandanawaz University, who discussed emotional well-being, stress management, resilience, and the importance of seeking support whenever required. The session encouraged students to prioritize their mental health while adapting to university life.

The afternoon session comprised engaging group activities coordinated by Mr. Ramesh N., Assistant Professor, Department of English, Mrs. Mahalaxmi, Guest Faculty, Faculty of Law, and Ms. Ardra Reghu, Guest Faculty, Department of Psychology. These activities promoted teamwork, communication, collaboration, and peer interaction, helping students become comfortable with one another.

The day's programme concluded with a guided campus tour led by Dr. Deshmukh Afshan Begum, Coordinator, Department of Hindi, and Dr. Azamat D.B., Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, during which students were introduced to important academic departments, administrative offices, library facilities, laboratories, and other student support services across the University campus.

Day 2 – 09 July 2026

The second day focused on orienting students to the University's academic structure and administrative processes. The day began with a comprehensive session on Understanding the B.A. and B.A. LL.B. Programme, jointly facilitated by Dr. Praveen Nayak, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, and Ms. Rabia Ali, Coordinator, Department of Psychology. The session introduced students to the curriculum structure, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), National Education Policy (NEP), Karnataka State Education Policy (SEP), credit framework, programme requirements, and various academic regulations governing their courses.

This was followed by a practical session on National Academic Depository (NAD), APAAR, and the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) conducted by Dr. Athiya Sultana, Coordinator, Department of English. Students were guided through the importance of digital academic records, the process of creating their APAAR and ABC IDs, and the long-term benefits of these national academic initiatives.

The next session on Examination and Assessment at Khaja Bandanawaz University was delivered by Dr. M.A. Mujeeb, Officer on Special Duty, Examination Section, and Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science. He provided detailed information regarding examination regulations, internal and semester-end assessment procedures, attendance requirements, evaluation methods, and examination-related administrative processes. The session also included an interactive discussion during which students' queries regarding examinations and academic regulations were addressed.

The afternoon was devoted to Story Writing and Speech Competitions, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. The competitions were coordinated by Mr. Syed Mudabber Nawaz, Guest Faculty, Department of English, Dr. Atiulla, Assistant Professor, Department of Urdu, Mrs. Mahalaxmi, Guest Faculty, Faculty of Law, Dr. Maimuna Begum Saradgi, Assistant Professor, Department of Urdu, Dr. Praveen Nayak, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, and Dr. Abdus Samad, Coordinator, Department of Urdu. The competitions provided students with opportunities to showcase their creativity, communication skills, confidence, and critical thinking while fostering healthy competition and self-expression.

Day 3 – 10 July 2026

The final day of the Student Induction Programme commenced with the screening of the educational film The Sheep Detectives (2026), directed by Kyle Balda. The screening was followed by an interactive discussion encouraging students to reflect upon themes such as observation, critical thinking, teamwork, ethical decision-making, and problem-solving.

The programme concluded with the Valedictory Session, conducted by Ms. Zainab, Assistant Professor, Department of English, as the Master of Ceremony. The ceremony was graced by Prof. Nishat Arif Hussaini, Dean, Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Syed Ashfaq Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor, Khaja Bandanawaz University, as the Guest of Honour. In his valedictory address, the Pro Vice Chancellor encouraged the students to pursue academic excellence, uphold the values of discipline, integrity, and responsibility, and actively engage in curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities throughout their academic journey.

The valedictory programme also included the distribution of prizes to the winners of the Story Writing and Speech Competitions, along with certificates of participation for all the students who attended the induction programme. The ceremony marked the successful conclusion of the three-day Student Induction Programme.

Outcomes of the Programme

The Student Induction Programme successfully familiarized the newly admitted students with the University's academic environment, curriculum framework, examination system, digital academic initiatives, and student support services. The various interactive sessions, group activities, competitions, and campus tour enabled students to develop confidence, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and gain a comprehensive understanding of university life. Overall, the programme fostered a sense of belonging among the students while equipping them with the knowledge, motivation, and preparedness required to begin their academic journey with clarity, enthusiasm, and a strong foundation for personal and academic growth.
