The Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University, organized a School Health Camp and Health Education Program on 22/01/2026 from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm at Hussain School and Madarsa, Islamabad Colony. The program aimed to provide free health checkups for students, spread awareness about personal hygiene and balanced diet, encourage early health screening and preventive healthcare, and educate children on the importance of hand hygiene and oral hygiene. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Guruprasad K Y, Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences.

The program began with a brief inaugural session in which the school Headmistress welcomed the healthcare professionals, teachers, and students. A team of specialist doctors from KBNT&GH, including experts from Pediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Dentistry, conducted comprehensive medical checkups. The screening included general health examination, vision testing, dental checkup, and BMI assessment. Students requiring further evaluation were referred to KBN Teaching and General Hospital for follow-up care. The camp primarily focused on early detection of health issues and promotion of preventive healthcare among school children.

An interactive health education session was conducted for students and teachers, emphasizing the correct techniques of hand washing and the importance of maintaining oral hygiene. The teaching team highlighted the role of hygiene in preventing common childhood illnesses and encouraged participants to spread this awareness within their communities.

A total of 204 participants attended the program, including 4 consultants from KBNT&GH, 9 staff members from the Department of Community Medicine (including MSWs), 5 MBBS interns, and 184 school and Madarsa students. MBBS interns actively contributed by preparing educational charts and posters under faculty guidance and delivering talks on hand hygiene and oral hygiene.
