Postgraduate Alumni Meet Organized by the Department of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Khaja Bandanawaz University (KBNU), successfully organized a Postgraduate Alumni Meet on 30^th July 2026 at Dept of Microbiology, FOMS. This meet bought postgraduate alumni, faculty members, research scholars, and current postgraduate students together for a memorable day of interaction, networking, and academic engagement.

The event commenced with a series of fun-filled recreational activities designed to foster camaraderie and strengthen the bond between alumni, faculty, and students. Participants enthusiastically took part in games such as Carrom, Musical Chairs, and Dumb Charades, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere that encouraged interaction and rekindled cherished memories of their student days.

Following the recreational session, the formal programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Masrath Jahan, Postgraduate Student, Department of Microbiology, who introduced the event and extended a cordial welcome to the Chief Guest, Heads of Departments, faculty members, alumni, and students. This was followed by the formal welcome address delivered by Dr. Siddesh B. Sirwar, Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, who emphasized the importance of nurturing lifelong relationships between the department and its alumni. He highlighted the invaluable role alumni play in mentoring students, fostering academic excellence, and strengthening institutional growth.

A formal felicitation ceremony was held to honour the dignitaries. Dr. Abdul Baseer, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and In-charge Controller of Examinations, KBNU, was felicitated by Dr. Siddesh B. Sirwar, Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology. Dr. Guruprasad K. Y., Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBNU, was felicitated by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Mir, Professor, Department of Microbiology.

The programme also recognized the distinguished alumni of the department. The alumni felicitation was jointly carried out by Dr. Abdul Baseer, Dr. Guruprasad K. Y., Dr. Vardhamane, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, and Dr. Siddesh B. Sirwar. The alumni honoured on the occasion were:

• Dr. Rimsha Serwish, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, KBNU – Faculty of Medical Sciences.

• Dr. Syeda Firdaus Nusheen, Senior Resident, Department of Microbiology, KBNU – Faculty of Medical Sciences.

A special felicitation was also accorded to Dr. Vardhamane, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, in recognition of his dedicated service and invaluable contributions to medical education on the occasion of his forthcoming retirement.

The event featured inspiring alumni addresses by Dr. Rimsha Serwish and Dr. Syeda Firdaus Nusheen, who shared their professional journeys, academic experiences, and valuable insights with the postgraduate students. They encouraged students to pursue excellence in academics, research, and patient care while emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and professional commitment.

The gathering was further enriched by the address of Dr. Guruprasad K. Y., Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, who appreciated the department's initiative in fostering meaningful alumni engagement and highlighted the significance of alumni as ambassadors of the institution. This was followed by the address of Dr. Abdul Baseer, Director, IQAC and In-charge Controller of Examinations, KBNU, who congratulated the department for organizing the event and underscored the role of alumni in enhancing academic quality, institutional development, and collaborative opportunities.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, alumni, faculty members, students, and the organizing committee for their enthusiastic participation and support.
