Post Graduate Orientation Program 2026

The Post Graduate (PG) Orientation Program was organized by Medical Education Unit, for the MD/MS students, batch 2025-2026 admitted to Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University. This program was conducted on 7th April 2026 at Forensic Medicine lecture hall, Faculty of Medical Sciences to orient the Post graduate students on NMC’s Post graduate Medical Education Board guidelines, the rules and regulation of KBN University, examination rules, its academic environment, facilities and courses offered. Convener was Dr. Guruprasad KY, Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University and Organizing Secretary was  Dr. Sushma D S, Co-Ordinator, Medical Education Unit, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University.

 

The program also highlighted the scientific approach towards synopsis preparation for Post graduate thesis. The event was aimed to ease the transition into post graduate studies by providing key insights, resources and networking opportunities. Dr. Sushma D S, Coordinator, Medical Education Unit welcomed the dignitaries, resource faculty and post graduate students for the orientation program. Dr. Zama Moosvi, Dean Academics inaugurated the program. The post graduate students introduced themselves to the dignitaries and the gathering.

 

The scientific session started with Rules & Regulations of KBN University. Dr. Guruprasad K Y, outlined the PGMER 2023 guidelines of Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) from NMC and the academic responsibilities of PG students, the courses offered for the PG students by the KBN University and the academic calendar for the Post Graduate batch 2025-2026. Dr. Md Abdul Baseer, COE(i/c) explained about the examination rules of PGMER 2023 guidelines and KBN University. Dr. Siddling Chengty, Medical Superintendant highlighted the KBNTGH rules and regulations, about patient care, discipline academic responsibilities, and conduct to be followed in KBNTGH.  Dr. Zama Moosvi, Dean Academics KBN University, explained the importance of accurate medical documentation and its legal implications. Ethical considerations in medico-legal cases were also discussed.

 

Dr. Zainab Ghazala provided insights into structuring a research protocol effectively. Importance of clarity in research objectives, methodology, and ethical considerations was emphasized. Dr. Md Mohsin Ahmed discussed how to define a research topic with clear aims and objectives, ensuring that research questions are specific and achievable were the key points. Dr. Shehnaz Shaheen covered strategies for conducting a thorough literature review. Various study designs and their relevance to different types of medical research were discussed. Ms. Poornima provided statistical insights into selecting the appropriate sample size and sampling methods. Understanding the role of statistical power in research was highlighted.

 

Dr. Sushma D.S guided students on proper research methodology and citation practices. Emphasis was placed on referencing credible sources to maintain academic integrity. Dr. S. H Vardhamane highlighted ethical principles in medical research. The significance of maintaining integrity, patient confidentiality, and ethical approval for studies was reinforced. The program provided an opportunity for new PG students to interact with faculty and peers. Encouragement to engage in research collaborations and continuous learning was a key takeaway.

 

The Post graduate orientation program successfully achieved its goals leaving post graduates well prepared for the academic challenges ahead. The program concluded with group photograph with post graduate students and resource faculty.
