One-Day Workshop on the Usage of DELNET E-Resources for PG Medical Students

The Central Library of Khaja Bandanawaz University organized a One-Day Workshop on the Usage of DELNET E-Resources for PG Medical Students on 29 December 2025 at Hall No. 3, Department of Forensic Medicine, KBN University. The workshop was designed to create awareness and build competency among postgraduate medical students in effectively accessing and utilizing digital academic resources for research and thesis work.


The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, setting a solemn tone for the academic proceedings. The inaugural session included a warm welcome address by Dr. S. S. A. Sarmast, Assistant Librarian, FOMS, who outlined the objectives of the workshop and emphasized the growing importance of e-resources in modern medical education.


The core workshop session was conducted by Dr. P. S. Kattimani, University Librarian, Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi. He delivered a comprehensive and hands-on demonstration of DELNET’s platforms such as the Discovery Portal, Knowledge Gainer Portal, Vision Portal, and the Global Research and Innovation Portal (GRIP). His session enabled students to understand efficient literature search strategies, resource sharing, and ethical research practices essential for MD/MS dissertation work.


Distinguished guests including Dr. Mohammed Abdul Basheer, Controller of Examinations, highlighted the significance of DELNET resources in ensuring plagiarism-free research, especially in light of mandatory plagiarism screening. Dr. K. Y. Guruprasad, Dean, FOMS, elaborated on the evolution, services, and academic value of DELNET, encouraging students to make optimal use of the available digital infrastructure. Dr. SiddeshSirwar, HOD, Microbiology, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the coordinated efforts of the organizing team.


It was proudly noted that the University became a DELNET institutional member in February 2023 and received the Certificate of Appreciation for DELNET Best Practices in March 2025. The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion and certificate distribution, leaving participants well-equipped to engage in quality research and scholarly writing.


The programme strongly reflected KBNU’s mission to foster academic excellence, ethical research, and digital advancement in higher education.
