Bridging the Gap: Khaja Bandanawaz University Hosts Workshop on IT Infrastructure Management


On September 10, 2024, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (E&CE) and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FoET), Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, jointly organized a one-day workshop on "IT Infrastructure Management" in the Gallery Hall. The event aimed to equip students and faculty with in-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure management, bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.


The workshop brought together experts, faculty members, and students to explore the latest trends and technologies in IT infrastructure management, emphasizing the importance of practical skills in today's competitive job market. The event served as a platform for knowledge exchange and hands-on learning, focusing on key aspects of IT infrastructure such as Windows Server 2022, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy Services, and server virtualization.


A total of 127 students from the 5th and 7th semesters of the Department of E&CE and 7th semester of the Department of CSE participated in the workshop, which was organized with free registration. The event commenced with the inauguration ceremony, which was initially scheduled to be graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Ali Raza Moosvi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Khaja Bandanawaz University. Despite his inability to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, the event proceeded with the permission of Prof. Moosvi.

The workshop provided a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in IT infrastructure management, emphasizing the importance of practical skills in today's competitive job market. Mr. Syed Shamashu Zama, the resource person and Managing Director of New Technology (NT), Kalaburagi, stressed that effective IT infrastructure management is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency, improving security, and ensuring seamless integration of various IT components.


Mr. Zama highlighted the growing demand for skilled professionals in the IT industry, with 90% of IT jobs being outsourced globally. He emphasized the need for students to develop strong technical and practical skills to meet industry expectations and to capitalize on the opportunities available in the field.


Organizing Committee and Acknowledgments


The conveners of the workshop, Dr. Shabana Tabassum, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Dr. Sameena Banu, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, played a pivotal role in organizing the event. The coordinators, Prof. Md Yousuf Ahmed, Prof. Radhika Kulkarni, and Prof. Sana Samreen, worked diligently to ensure the success of the workshop.


The organizing committee consisted of staff members from both departments, who contributed to the success of the event. The Dean of FoET, Dr. S. Kamal Mohd Azam, was honored for his efforts in gracing the occasion as the Chairperson.


The workshop on IT Infrastructure Management was a resounding success, providing students and faculty with valuable insights into the latest trends and technologies in the field. The event served as a testament to the collaborative efforts of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Khaja Bandanawaz University, in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. The university looks forward to organizing more such events in the future to equip its students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their chosen fields.
