The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Khaja Bandanawaz University, organized a One-Day Lecture Series on Mathematics in the Age of AI & Data Science on 9th October 2025 at the Forensic Lecture Hall, KBNU. The event was presided over by Dr. Geetanjali R. Kamble, Dean, Faculty of Science, and convened by Dr. Sana Aejaz, Head (i/c), Department of Mathematics, KBNU. The organizing secretaries included Dr. Seema Jabeen, Dr. Mahalaxmi, and Ms. Farheen Kausar.

The event featured six distinguished lecture sessions delivered by eminent academicians from Sharnbasva University and Central University of Karnataka. Prof. Triambak Biradar and Dr. Shreedevi Kalyan served as chief guests, sharing their expertise on the evolving applications of mathematics in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

The lectures were as follows:

  1. Linear Algebra Application for AI – Dr. Triambak Biradar emphasized the critical role of matrix operations, eigenvalues, and vector spaces in AI and machine learning.

  2. Controllability of Multi-Agent Networked SystemsDr. Janardhana Reddy explored graph theory, consensus algorithms, and applications in robotics and autonomous systems.

  3. Role of Mathematics in AI – Dr. Shreedevi Kalyani discussed probability, statistics, optimization, and calculus as key tools for AI model development.

  4. Role of Mathematics in AI/ML – Dr. N. Sandeep addressed regression, classification, neural networks, and challenges in data representation and algorithm efficiency.

  5. Mathematical Applications in AI/Data Science – Dr. Megha Khandelwal contributed insights on computational techniques and data-driven methodologies.

  6. Machine Learning and Neural Networks – Dr. Mahalaxmi highlighted applied perspectives, bridging theoretical mathematics with AI applications.

Faculty coordinators ensured smooth execution, chaired sessions, and facilitated interactions between attendees and speakers. The lecture series successfully highlighted the foundational importance of mathematics in AI and Data Science, inspiring both students and faculty to explore interdisciplinary applications.

The event concluded on a high note, fostering knowledge exchange, collaboration, and innovation. It reinforced KBNU’s commitment to academic excellence and its pivotal role in preparing students for emerging technological fields.
