The Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBNU, in collaboration with the Skill Lab, conducted a vital Mass Awareness Program on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on 22nd July 2025. Held at the New Lecture Hall of KBNTGH, the program aimed to educate medical students on life-saving emergency procedures crucial in instances of cardiac arrest, drowning, and airway blockage.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Vinod Uplaonkar, Professor in Pediatrics and Skill Lab Coordinator for ALS/BLS. Dr. Siddaling Chengty delivered an insightful talk emphasizing the importance of early intervention through CPR in saving lives. Participants were then guided through practical demonstrations of Basic Life Support (BLS), including proper chest compression techniques, rescue breathing, and AED use.

Students were divided into three groups for a hands-on experience, practicing CPR on mannequins under expert supervision. The training was further enriched with an interactive segment addressing common myths, doubts, and real-world applications.

The event recorded the participation of 80 attendees, including 70 students and 10 faculty members. Students played an active role—not just in performing CPR, but also in assisting with demonstrations and engaging in team-based simulations. The event significantly boosted student confidence, fostered team communication, and emphasized the urgency and precision needed during critical care responses.

The CPR awareness program was a resounding success, instilling in students the competence and confidence to act decisively in emergency scenarios. It marked another step in KBNU’s ongoing commitment to blending clinical excellence with community-responsive medical education.
