Malgatti Health Camp

Health camp was organized by Department of Community Medicine under Family Adoption Programme of National Medical Commission in Malgatti village on 03/08/2024, 08:00am to 01:00pm.


This was the last visit of 2021 batch MBBS students to Malgatti village which was adopted under Family Adoption Programme as per National Medical Commission guidelines.


Students visited their adopted families and enquired about the health related issue and did examination if required with the help of interns and referred them to the camp for further evaluation by specialist doctors. Students also did Hypertension; Diabetes Mellitus and Anemia screening with the help of Interns. Those requiring further evaluation were referred to the KBN Hospital.


Simultaneously school health camp was also organized at Government School, Malgatti where all the students were screened for nutritional deficiencies and different diseases by specialist Doctors from Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT and Dental Departments. Free Medicines were given and a First-Aid kit was provided to school by Department of Community Medicine after explaining teachers about First-Aid.


Informative sessions were held on topics like nutrition, hygiene, the importance of regular exercise and prevention of diseases in and around their house. Special focus was on prevention of vector borne disease like Malaria, Dengue etc. Demonstrations on proper hand washing techniques and dental care practices were also part of the educational efforts. Students had the opportunity to consult with healthcare professionals regarding any health concerns they might have had. Counselling sessions were provided on topics related to mental health and well-being.


Later doctor’s team visited the Anganwadi Centers of the village and examined all the Anganwadi children for nutritional deficiencies and different diseases and demonstrations on proper hand washing techniques and dental care practices were also done. First-Aid kit was given to Anganwadi by Department of Community Medicine after explaining Anganwadi teacher about First-Aid.


Overall the camp was organized under the supervision of Dr. Shahnaz Shaheen, I/C HOD Dept of Community Medicine, FOMS, KBNU.
