International Women’s Day Programme

The Department of English and Hindi, Faculty of Languages, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, organized a meaningful programme to celebrate International Women’s Day. The programme aimed to recognize the achievements, contributions, and importance of women in society and to promote awareness about women’s empowerment, equality, and leadership. The event highlighted the role of education and social awareness in strengthening the position of women in contemporary society.
The event was held on 10.03.2026 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the PG Building, 3rd floor. It was convened by Prof. Nishat Arif Hussain, Dean, Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Law. The programme was organized by Miss Zainab, Mr. Ramesh, and Dr. Deshmukh Afshan Begum as the Organizing Secretaries.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished invitees, Capt. Annamta Ansari and Cadet Pilot Aditi Maheshwari.
The Chief Guest of the programme was Capt. Annamta Ansari, who addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of women’s empowerment through education, confidence, and leadership. She encouraged students to strive for excellence and to contribute positively to society while upholding the values of equality and respect.
Cadet Pilot Aditi Maheshwari, the second guest of the programme, shared her thoughts on the role of women in nation-building and emphasized the importance of determination and self-confidence among young women. She also spoke about the growing participation of women in education, leadership, and professional life.They shared their valuable insights and experiences.
Another guest Sachin, who shared his views on the significance of Women’s Day and appreciated the efforts made to promote awareness about women’s empowerment.
As part of the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Law, Prof. Nishat Arif Hussaini,was felicitated by Dr. Deshmukh Afshan Begum in recognition of her inspiring contribution and encouragement towards promoting women’s empowerment, leadership, and social awareness.
The cultural programme included a poetry recitation by Hufza, who recited Maya Angelou’s famous poem “Still I Rise”, beautifully expressing the strength, courage, and aspirations of women. The poem was highly appreciated by the audience and added a meaningful cultural dimension to the event. This was followed by a historical representation of famous women personalities, includingSavitribai PhuleandJustice Fatima Beevi, the first woman judge of the Supreme Court of India.
Following this, Nausheen Saniya, a B.A. student, delivered a speech in Hindi, where she discussed the challenges faced by women and emphasized the importance of creating opportunities and supportive environments for women to succeed.
Initially Invocation by Sufiyan student of Law. Ammara M.A. student Department of English introduced the guests. She briefly explained the significance of celebrating Women’s Day and emphasized the importance of recognizing the role and contributions of women in different spheres of life. The Welcome Speech was delivered by Masiha Jabeen, M.A. student Department of Sociology, The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Nausheen Saniya, B.A. student. The programme was anchored by Zaiba, M.A. student Department of English.
International Women’s Day thus became an inspiring occasion that encouraged students to recognize the dignity, strength and contributions of women in society. All teaching staff and Students of Languages and Arts, Humanities and Social Science Faculty were present at the celebration.
