Integrated Health Camp and Health Education Programme

Integrated Health Camp and Health Education Programme was organized jointly by the Department of Community Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University, in Harsur Village on 23rd July 2026 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the villagers, school children, Anganwadi beneficiaries, local leaders, healthcare professionals, and faculty members of KBN University.

Inaugural Session and Felicitation of Dignitaries

The programme commenced with the registration of beneficiaries followed by a formal inaugural session. The dignitaries, faculty members, village representatives, and community members were warmly welcomed.

·         Headmaster, Government School, Harsur village

The dignitaries were felicitated with Shawls as a token of gratitude for their support towards community health initiatives.

During the inaugural session, the dignitaries addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University, in organizing integrated outreach health programmes. They emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare, early disease detection, public awareness, and strengthening the partnership between medical institutions and rural communities.

Health Education Session on Electrocution

Following the inaugural ceremony, a comprehensive Health Education Session on Electrocution Prevention and Electrical Safety was conducted by Dr. Najmussaher, Senior Resident Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University.

The session focused on creating awareness regarding:

• Common causes of electrocution in domestic, agricultural, and occupational settings.

• Safe handling of electrical appliances and wiring.

• Electrical hazards during monsoon and rainy seasons.

• Prevention of accidental electrical injuries among children.

• Safe agricultural practices involving electric pumps and irrigation systems.

• First aid measures for victims of electrocution.

• Immediate emergency response and timely transportation of victims to healthcare facilities.

Integrated Health Camp

Following the health education session, the integrated health camp commenced, providing comprehensive healthcare services to the villagers.

Consultants from various clinical departments examined the beneficiaries and provided specialist consultation, diagnosis, treatment advice, and counselling.

The following specialty services were provided:

• General Medicine

• Obstetrics & Gynaecology (OBG)

• Orthopaedics

• Paediatrics

• Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

• Ophthalmology

• Dentistry

The beneficiaries underwent detailed clinical examinations, free medicines, health counselling, and were advised regarding appropriate follow-up and referral to KBNTGH wherever necessary. The multidisciplinary approach ensured comprehensive healthcare delivery addressing both acute and chronic medical conditions.

Diabetes Mellitus Screening

The Department of Biochemistry organized a Diabetes Mellitus Screening Programme as part of the integrated health camp.

Random blood glucose estimation was carried out for eligible beneficiaries to identify individuals at risk of diabetes mellitus. Participants received counselling regarding:

• Risk factors for diabetes.

• Importance of regular blood glucose monitoring.

• Healthy dietary habits.

• Physical activity and lifestyle modification.

• Early diagnosis and management of diabetes mellitus.

Around 150 patients and nearly 100 school students and anganwadi children benefitted from the camp. 65 people were screened for Diabetes Mellitus and 13 patients with abnormal values were referred to KBNTGH for further evaluation regular follow-up for appropriate management.

House-to-House Health Education on Electrocution

Simultaneously, Dr. Najmussaher, along with faculty members and students, conducted a house-to-house health education campaign throughout Harsur Village.

The team visited households, shops, and interacted directly with family members to educate them regarding electrical safety practices within homes and surrounding environments.

Conclusion

The Integrated Health Camp and Health Education Programme at Harsur Village was successfully conducted through the joint efforts of the Department of Community Medicine, Department of Biochemistry, and Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University.

The programme effectively combined specialist healthcare services, diabetes screening, school and Anganwadi health services, preventive health education, and community outreach activities.
