Guest Lecture on Diagnostic Serology – Its Applications in Current Era

Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Khaja Bandanawaz University (KBNU), successfully organized A Guest lecture about DIAGNOSTIC SEROLOGY – ITS APPLICATION IN CURRENT ERA for phase II MBBS students Batch of 2024 on 24^th July 2026 at Anatomy Lecture Hall, FOMS highlighting the principles, recent advancements and practical applications of diagnostic serology

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Syeda Firdaus Nusheen, Senior Resident, Dept of Microbiology who introduced the event and extended a cordial welcome to the Chief Guest, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students.

Dr Arshiya Tazeen, Associate Professor Dept of Microbiology introduced our resource person, Dr. Mir Salman Ali, Head- Microbiology & Infectious diseases, Global reference laboratories, Apollo Diagnostics, Hyderabad

The academic session began with an introduction by Dr. Syeda Firdaus Nusheen, Senior Resident, Department of Microbiology, followed by Dr Arshiya Tazeen, Associate Professor Dept of Microbiology introducing, Dr. Mir Salman Ali, Head- Microbiology & Infectious diseases, Global reference laboratories, Apollo Diagnostics, Hyderabad.

This was followed by an interactive and informative lecture on “Diagnostic serology and its applications in recent era” by Dr Mir Salman Ali highlighting the principles, recent advancements and practical applications of diagnostic serology.

The programme introduced the students to existing, evolving and difficult to diagnose and treat kind of infectious diseases and provided insights on advancements for resolving the issue for better patient care and disease prevention.

The lecture was followed by an insightful address by Dr. Siddesh B. Sirwar, Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology appreciating the efforts of Dr Mir Salman Ali, and organizing team.

The valedictory session started with recitation of qirat followed by felicitation of the dignitaries.

4. Dr. Guruprasad K. Y., Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBNU and Dr. Mohaammed Abdul Baseer, Incharge Controller of Examinations and Director, IQAC, KBNU felicitated Dr. Mir Salman Ali, Head- Microbiology & Infectious diseases, Global reference laboratories, Apollo Diagnostics, Hyderabad.

Dr. Guruprasad K. Y., Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, appreciated the Department of Microbiology for organizing an innovative and impactful academic programme which helped the students to understand the current application of diagnostic serology

Dr. Mohammed Abdul Baseer, Incharge Controller of Examinations and Director IQAC KBNU addressed the gathering. He appreciated the team efforts from dept of microbiology for working towards such events and betterment of students. He also wished good luck to the students for the upcoming university examination

Dr Mir Salman Ali, shared his thoughts with the students, remembered his days as an alumni of KBNIMS 2017. He shared his happiness and thanked the university for inviting him for the guest lecture.

The key take-home message of the programme was that “Serology tells us how the immune system has responded to an infection. Understanding when and how to use it is just as important as knowing the result.”

The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Rimsha Serwish Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, who expressed her sincere gratitude to the Dean, dignitaries, faculty members, resource person, organizing committee, and students for their valuable support and enthusiastic participation, making the event a grand success.
