Good Clinical & Laboratory Practices Workshop 2025

In pursuit of strengthening ethical and scientific standards in medical research, Khaja Bandanawaz University organized a one-day workshop on Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) on 2nd August 2025 at Forensic Lecture Hall 2, Faculty of Medical Sciences. The programme was conducted by the Department of Pharmacology in collaboration with the Indian Society for Clinical Research (ISCR) and the Academic Consortium for Clinical Research in India (ACCRI).
The sessions introduced postgraduate students to ICH-GCP R3 guidelines and Indian GCP standards, highlighting investigator responsibilities, informed consent, confidentiality, and conflict of interest management. Participants also gained insights into the ICMR 2017 guidelines, the New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules 2019, and the ethical considerations of conducting research among vulnerable populations. Emphasis was placed on the role of Institutional Ethics Committees in safeguarding participant rights and the importance of GLP in ensuring data reliability and integrity.
The workshop featured expert guidance from Dr. Anuradha H.V, Professor and Head of Pharmacology at MS Ramaiah Medical College, Bengaluru, and Co-Chair, ACCRI, ISCR, along with Dr. Zainab Ghazala, Associate Professor of Pharmacology, KBNU-FOMS, and Dr. Zeenath Begum, Professor of Pathology, KBNU-FOMS. Their interactive sessions, followed by lively Q&A discussions, created an engaging atmosphere where students were encouraged to reflect deeply on the ethical and scientific dimensions of their research work.
The valedictory function was graced by Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Syed Ashfaq Ahmed, Dr. M.A Baseer, Director IQAC and Controller of Examinations (I/C), Dr. Guruprasad KY, Dean FOMS, and Dr. Siddhaling Chengti, Medical Superintendent. The dignitaries appreciated the Department of Pharmacology for organizing this timely academic initiative and encouraged students to uphold the highest standards of integrity in their research endeavors. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates, marking the participants’ strengthened commitment to ethical research practices.
This workshop reaffirmed KBNU’s mission of nurturing responsible, competent, and ethical researchers who contribute to the advancement of global healthcare with scientific rigor and integrity.
