Under the Family Adoption Program (FAP), the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University, organized a Free Health Camp and Health Education Programme at Madarsa Faiz-ul-Quraan, Azadpur on 03 January 2026. The village of Azadpur has been adopted under the NMC Family Adoption Program for the MBBS 2024 batch, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to community-oriented medical education and rural healthcare delivery. The programme was conducted under the guidance of respected Dean Dr. Guruprasad K Y.
The primary objective of the camp was to improve community health by delivering essential healthcare services, promoting preventive health practices, and strengthening the bond between healthcare providers and rural households. The camp was meticulously planned by Dr. Shahnaz Shaheen, Professor and I/C Head of the Department of Community Medicine, and efficiently executed by Dr. M A Fahim, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine.
The programme saw the active involvement of consultants from General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Pediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Dentistry. MBBS interns, 2nd Phase MBBS students, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, along with local volunteers, played a vital role in ensuring smooth execution. Local village leaders and health workers contributed significantly by mobilizing the community and coordinating patient participation.
Approximately 200 Madarsa students were screened for common illnesses and nutritional deficiencies, with those requiring further evaluation referred to KBN Hospital. Additionally, more than 250 village residents benefitted from the camp through free medical consultations, distribution of medicines, and screening for Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension. Patients requiring advanced care were appropriately referred.
Health education sessions were conducted on key topics including menstrual hygiene, personal and hand hygiene, balanced diet, regular physical activity, and prevention of common diseases. A First-Aid box was handed over to the Madarsa staff after providing detailed instructions on its effective use.
The free health camp proved to be a successful and impactful initiative, addressing immediate healthcare needs while fostering preventive health awareness. Village leaders and Madarsa authorities emphasized the importance of organizing such camps regularly to ensure sustained improvement in the health status of the rural community. The programme strongly reflected KBN University’s mission of social responsibility, community service, and holistic medical education.
