Five-Day PG Students’ Induction Programme – 2026
The Faculty of Languages, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Law (FoLAHSSL), Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, organised a Five-Day PG Students’ Induction Programme – 2026 from 21st to 25th September 2026 for newly admitted postgraduate students of the First Semester. The programme aimed to familiarise students with the University, its academic environment, faculty members, departments, facilities and career opportunities.
Day – 1 | 21st September 2026
The first day of the programme commenced at 10:00 AM at the PG Building, Third Floor, with the inauguration by the Heads and Coordinators of the Programme, in the presence of faculty members and newly admitted students.
Dr. Athiya Sultana, Head, Department of English, welcomed the newly admitted students to Khaja Bandanawaz University and addressed them on the importance of their academic journey, encouraging them to make the best use of the opportunities and resources available at the University. She also provided an overview of the University, its academic environment and institutional framework, thereby helping the students become familiar with their new academic surroundings.
The faculty members then introduced students to the various departments, including Sociology, English, Urdu, History, Hindi, Law, Kannada, Psychology and Political Science. Dr. Praveen Nayak, Head, Department of Law, conducted an informative session on “How to Build Your Career?”, encouraging students to develop a focused approach towards their academic and professional growth.
The day concluded with a session on “Facilities at KBNU”, conducted by Dr. Athar Moizuddin, Assistant Professor, Department of Urdu, providing students with an overview of the facilities and resources available at the University.
The first day successfully provided the newly admitted students with a warm introduction to the University, its academic community, departments, career opportunities and campus facilities, setting the foundation for the remaining days of the Induction Programme.
Day – 2 | 22nd September 2026
The second day of the programme focused on helping students understand the academic and support systems available to them at the University. Dr. M. A. Mujeeb, Deputy Controller of Examination, conducted an informative session on “Understanding the Examination Pattern”, providing students with an overview of the examination system and helping them gain clarity about the academic assessment process.
This was followed by an Anti-Ragging Awareness session conducted by Ms. Mahalaxmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, who also introduced the students to the Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC). The session created awareness about students’ rights, responsibilities and the mechanisms available for addressing grievances and ensuring a safe and supportive campus environment.
The programme continued with a session on “Mental Well-Being & Student Support”, conducted by Ms. Aswathy N, Student Counsellor, highlighting the importance of emotional well-being, maintaining a healthy academic balance and seeking appropriate support whenever required.
The day concluded with a Campus Tour – Exploring KBN University Facilities & Academic Spaces, led by Md Azharuddin, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, and Dr. Aslam Walikar, Assistant Professor, Department of History. The students were familiarised with important facilities, academic spaces and various areas of the University campus, enabling them to become more comfortable with their new academic environment.
The second day successfully strengthened students’ awareness of the academic, administrative, welfare and campus facilities available at Khaja Bandanawaz University, while also encouraging them to actively engage with the University community.
Day – 3 | 23rd September 2026
The third day of the programme focused on developing students’ communication abilities, life skills, academic awareness and overall personal development.
Ms. Zainab, Assistant Professor, Department of English, conducted an engaging lecture on Communication Skills, emphasising the importance of effective communication in academic, professional and interpersonal settings.
This was followed by a session on “Life Skills and Goal Setting”, conducted by Dr. Atungbou, Head, Department of Sociology. The session encouraged students to develop essential life skills, identify their aspirations and set clear and achievable goals for their academic and professional future.
The programme continued with a general interactivesession conducted by Dr. Javed Aktar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication & Media, who engaged the students in an informative and interactive discussion, encouraging their active participation and interaction.
The programme continued with a session on “Students’ Role in a University”, conducted by Dr. Azamat D. B. Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology. The session highlighted the responsibilities of students as members of the University community and encouraged them to participate actively and responsibly in academic and campus life.
Dr. Athiya Sultana, Head, Department of English, conducted a session on “Scholarship Opportunities & Awareness”, providing students with useful information about scholarship opportunities and creating awareness about the importance of exploring available financial and academic support.
The day concluded with Fun & Engagement Activities, conducted by Dr. Sameena Sindagikar, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and Mrs. Qhudsia Wajid, Assistant Professor, Department of English. The activities, including Musical Chairs, Passing the Parcel provided students with an opportunity to interact, build friendships and enjoy a lively and inclusive campus experience.
The third day successfully combined skill development, goal setting, student responsibility, scholarship awareness and recreational activities, contributing to the holistic development of the newly admitted students and strengthening their sense of connection and belonging to the University.
Day – 4 | 24th September 2026
The fourth day of the programme included a visit to the Holy Shrine, the Dargah of Khaja Bandanawaz, and an excursion to historical monuments, providing students with a meaningful and educational experience. Dr. Aslam Walikar, Assistant Professor, Department of History, led the excursion. The visit provided students with an opportunity to explore the historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of Kalaburagi, while developing a deeper appreciation of the rich legacy associated with Khaja Bandanawaz and the region.
The programme continued with a screening of the movie Super 30 (2019), conducted by Mr. Yogesh Rathod, Assistant Professor, Department of History and Dr. Atungbou, Head, Department of Sociology. The screening provided students with an engaging learning experience while highlighting important themes of motivation, education, perseverance and social challenges. The film encouraged students to reflect on determination, resilience and the importance of pursuing one’s goals despite difficulties.
The fourth day concluded with a meaningful blend of heritage, learning and inspiration, giving students an enriching experience that connected them with the region’s history and encouraged them to value perseverance and achievement.
Day – 5 | Friday, 25th September 2026
The fifth and concluding day of the PG Students’ Induction Programme – 2026 was held at the PG Building, Third Floor. The day featured sessions focused on academic resources, student well-being, creativity and reflection, followed by the formal valedictory ceremony.
The day commenced with a session on “Introduction to Swayam and MOOCs”, conducted by Dr. Tajuddin, Head, Department of Political Science. The session familiarised students with SWAYAM and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and highlighted the importance of online learning platforms in enhancing academic knowledge and accessing diverse educational resources.
This was followed by a session on “Health & Fitness”, conducted by Dr. Vinod Kumar Patil, Asst Prof. Faculty of Science Food & Nutrition Department. The session emphasised the importance of maintaining physical well-being and adopting healthy habits alongside academic pursuits.
The students thereafter participated in a “One-Minute Act”, conducted Dr. Athar Moizuddin, Assistant Professor, Department of Urdu. The activity provided an engaging and interactive platform for students to participate, express themselves and develop confidence through a creative and enjoyable activity.
After the lunch break, the programme proceeded to its Valedictory Session, graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Mohammad Iqbal Mattoo, Dean, Faculty of Education, Khaja Bandanawaz University. The valedictory session marked the formal conclusion of the five-day induction programme.
The newly admitted students were also given an opportunity to share their views, experiences and opinions about the Student Induction Programme. They expressed their appreciation for the various sessions and activities, highlighting how the programme helped them become familiar with the university environment and feel more comfortable and connected with their new academic community.
The winners of the fun activities were felicitated with small tokens of appreciation, in recognition of their enthusiastic participation. The students who actively participated in the activities were also appreciated and encouraged for their talents, creativity and active involvement throughout the session. The programme also included the distribution of certificates to the participants, followed by concluding remarks. Ms Zainab proposed the vote of thanks.
The fifth day brought the Five-Day PG Students’ Induction Programme – 2026 to a meaningful conclusion. The sessions on digital learning, health and fitness, student participation and creative expression, followed by the valedictory ceremony, provided a fitting culmination to the programme.
