Day 3: Walkathon & Oath-Taking Ceremony at Khaja Bandanawaz University
As part of the Anti-Ragging Week 2026 celebrations, a Walkathon was organized on 14th August 2026 to create awareness about the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful and ragging-free campus. The Walkathon served as a highly visible and participatory activity through which students came together to express their collective commitment towards the prevention of ragging.
The activity created a strong sense of unity, solidarity and collective participation among the students. By walking together with a common purpose, students demonstrated that the responsibility of preventing ragging rests with the entire University community and cannot be limited to any particular group or administrative committee. The collective presence of students conveyed a powerful message of togetherness and reinforced the University's commitment to ensuring the safety and dignity of every student.
The Walkathon also provided an opportunity for students to actively engage with the central message of Anti-Ragging Week beyond the classroom environment. Students participated with enthusiasm and demonstrated their support for values such as mutual respect, friendship, empathy, discipline, cooperation and peaceful coexistence. The activity encouraged students to recognize that a positive campus culture can be built when individuals work together and take responsibility for the well-being of their peers. Following the Walkathon, the students assembled for the oath-taking programme, where the importance of maintaining discipline, mutual respect and dignity within the University community was reinforced.
As an important component of Anti-Ragging Week 2026, an Oath-Taking Ceremony was organized on 14th August 2026 at Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, following the Walkathon. The ceremony served as a significant awareness and commitment-building activity, bringing together students and members of the University community with a common objective of promoting a safe, respectful and completely ragging-free campus environment.
The Registrar of Khaja Bandanawaz University, Mr. Mir Vilayat Ali, administered the Anti-Ragging Oath to the students. The oath encouraged students to consciously reject all forms of ragging and to uphold the principles of respect, dignity, friendship, empathy and responsible behaviour in their interactions with fellow students. The participation of the students in taking the oath reflected their collective commitment towards maintaining a positive and harmonious campus atmosphere.
The oath-taking ceremony emphasized that prevention of ragging is not merely an administrative or disciplinary responsibility but a shared responsibility of every member of the University community. Students were encouraged to act responsibly, support their peers and contribute towards creating an environment where every student, particularly newcomers, feels safe, accepted and respected.
Prize Distribution
The oath-taking ceremony and address were followed by the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the Poster-Making Competition conducted as part of Anti-Ragging Week 2026. The winners were felicitated and awarded cash prizes in recognition of their creativity, originality and effective communication of the anti-ragging message through their posters.
The prize distribution encouraged and appreciated the active participation of students in the awareness campaign. It also highlighted the University's efforts to promote creative approaches to communicating important social and institutional messages. The winning posters represented themes such as prevention of ragging, student dignity, mutual respect, friendship, safe campus culture and positive senior–junior relationships.
Overall, the programme successfully reinforced the University's commitment to building a campus where every student is treated with dignity, respect and compassion. The collective participation of students and University authorities demonstrated that creating a ragging-free campus is a shared institutional commitment requiring the active cooperation and responsible conduct of the entire University community.
The activity was in line with the broader objective of Anti-Ragging Week 2026 to ensure that KBNU remains a place where seniority is expressed through mentorship rather than intimidation and where every fresher is welcomed with warmth rather than fear.
