The inaugural ceremony marked the beginning of a week-long series of student engagement activities from 12th to 18th August 2026.

According to the programme plan, the activities included seminars/awareness programmes, a painting competition, a walkathon, an oath-taking ceremony and creative competitions.

Painting Competition

As part of the Anti-Ragging Week 2026 celebrations at Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, on 13th August 2026, a Painting Competition was organized as an important creative and awareness-oriented activity for students. The competition was conducted at the Amphi Theatre, KBNU Campus, providing an open and vibrant platform for students to express their thoughts, concerns and commitment towards creating a safe and ragging-free campus.

A total of 50 students actively participated in the competition with considerable enthusiasm and creativity. The participants prepared posters and paintings highlighting various dimensions of anti-ragging awareness. The activity encouraged students to communicate powerful social messages through visual art and demonstrated their understanding of the importance of maintaining dignity, respect and harmonious relationships within the University community.

The major themes reflected through the posters and paintings included:

  • Prevention of ragging and creation of a ragging-free campus

  • Respect for student dignity and individual rights

  • Mutual respect and empathy among students

  • Friendship, cooperation and healthy interaction

  • Positive and supportive senior–junior relationships

  • Importance of a safe, inclusive and welcoming campus

  • Promotion of mentorship instead of intimidation

  • Responsible behaviour and peaceful coexistence among students

The competition provided an opportunity for students to convey the message that ragging has no place in an institution of higher education and that senior students can play a constructive role by guiding, supporting and mentoring their juniors. Through their artistic representations, the participants emphasized that a university should be an environment where students feel secure, respected and confident to pursue their academic and personal development.

The activity also served as an effective peer-to-peer awareness initiative, as the posters and creative works attracted the attention of fellow students and faculty members. The visual messages helped reinforce the University's anti-ragging campaign and encouraged the student community to collectively uphold a culture of kindness, inclusion, respect and responsibility.

The enthusiasm demonstrated by all 50 participants reflected the students' active involvement in the Anti-Ragging Week initiative. The creativity and commitment displayed through the competition contributed significantly to spreading awareness about the importance of maintaining a safe, friendly and welcoming campus environment.

To recognize and encourage the talent and active participation of students, cash prizes were awarded to the winners of the poster competition. It also encouraged students to participate actively in future awareness and student-welfare initiatives organized by the University.

Overall, the Painting/Poster Competition successfully combined creativity with social awareness and emerged as a meaningful component of Anti-Ragging Week 2026. The activity reinforced the University's message that education should be accompanied by humanity, empathy and respect, and that every student has a responsibility to contribute towards building a ragging-free KBNU.
