Day 1 - National Conference on “Emerging Horizons in Biological Sciences”

The Department of Zoology, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, successfully organised a two-day National Conference on “Emerging Horizons in Biological Sciences” on 24th and 25th March 2026. The conference concluded with a valedictory session marked by reflection, appreciation, and forward-looking insights.
The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from academicians, researchers, scientists, and students from various parts of the country. Over the two days, diverse and contemporary themes were explored, including molecular biology and genetics, biotechnology and nanotechnology, environmental sustainability, bioinformatics, neuroscience, microbiology, and climate change.
The technical sessions featured insightful keynote and invited lectures by eminent experts.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. G. Dastagir, Senior Principal Scientist at the NCIM Resource Centre, Biochemical Sciences Division, CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. He highlighted cutting-edge advancements in biological sciences and emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in addressing global challenges.
The First Invited Talk was delivered by Dr. Philip Raj Abraham, ICMR–National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad, on “Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience and Infectious Disease Research.” He shared valuable insights from his research on tuberculosis in the Kalaburagi region.
The Second Invited Talk was presented by Dr. Karuthapandi M, Freshwater Biology Regional Centre, Zoological Survey of India, Hyderabad, on “Innovations in Environmental Sciences, Climate Resilience and Sustainable Technologies.” He emphasised wetland conservation and ecosystem sustainability. Oral and poster presentation sessions were conducted from 4:00 PM to 6:15 PM.
