Breast Cancer Awareness Month – 2025 Program at UHTC

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month – 2025, the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University, organized a comprehensive awareness program at the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Khaja Bazaar, on 23rd October 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The session was specially designed for women attending the UHTC immunization clinic, aiming to promote awareness about breast cancer and the significance of early detection.
The program commenced with a keynote address by Dr. Vijaylaxmi (LMO), who emphasized the rising burden of breast cancer in India and highlighted the critical importance of early screening and self-examination. Following this, Miss Sumayya, Community Medicine intern, conducted an engaging session covering essential aspects such as the burden of disease, risk factors, myths and facts, signs and symptoms, and available treatments.
Continuing the session, Miss Fatima, also a Community Medicine intern, focused on preventive strategies and early detection methods. She demonstrated the Breast Self-Examination (BSE) technique using informative posters and charts, enabling participants to understand and practice the method confidently.
The initiative proved to be a meaningful and successful endeavor, offering a platform for health education, awareness, and community empowerment. It not only enhanced participants’ understanding of breast health but also encouraged proactive health-seeking behavior.
The program was organized under the valuable supervision of Dr. Shahnaz Shaheen (Professor & In-Charge HOD), Dr. M. A. Fahim (Associate Professor), and Dr. Vijaylaxmi (LMO) from the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, KBN University.
Through this initiative, KBN University reaffirmed its commitment to fostering community health and preventive education, empowering women with the knowledge and confidence to take charge of their well-being.
