An Expert Talk On “ Blockchain Technology”

An expert talk on "Blockchain Technology" was delivered by Mohammad Minhaj Uddin Khurram, Ambassador at Movement Labs, India, on 15th November 2024. Organized jointly by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, the session enlightened students from both departments about the fundamentals and applications of Blockchain. Dr. S Kamal Mohd Azam, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Khaja Bandanawaz University, chaired the event.


The expert talk conducted unlocked the power of Blockchain Technology and the session was started with the evolution of Internet like web 1.0, web 2.0 and web 3.0. The session was started with the definition of Blockchain and discussed its unique characteristics like Immutability, Transparency, Security and Efficiency. Also he has explained in detail how a Blockchain works like Block creation, Block transmission, Block addition, Block update and so on with a complete flow diagram.

 

Blockchain technology also helps to make self executing smart contracts without the involvement of intermediaries. Various applications of Blockchain in different fields like Financial Services, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Management, Voting Systems and Identity Management that actually defines the version of Internet web 3.0. Various opportunities in the Blockchain technology have been discussed like Smart Contract Developer, Blockchain Engineer, Full Stack Engineer, Community Manager, Sales & Business Development, Marketing, Project Engineer and many more. Also the resource person highlighted the limitations of Blockchain i.e., Scalability, Energy Consumption, Legal and Regulatory uncertainties, Security Vulnerabilities, Interoperability and Integrations.

 

The open question and answer session and quiz competition for the participants was held wherein the prizes for the winners have been distributed by the resource person.
