A group of enthusiastic students of M.Sc. Food and Nutrition from KBN University embarked on an enlightening educational tour to the prestigious ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, on 02nd May 2024. During their visit, the students had the unique opportunity to delve into various departments such as Cell Biology and Food Chemistry, gaining firsthand insights into the multifaceted domain of nutrition science as explained in a special lecture given by DR. K.RAJENDER RAO, SCIENTIS-F at NIN. The excursion highlighted the expansive scope of nutrition as a field, showcasing its intersections with disciplines like biochemistry, food science, microbiology, and molecular biology.
Through interactions with researchers and exposure to cutting-edge facilities, the students gained valuable insights into potential career pathways within the field of food and nutrition. This educational journey underscored the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in addressing nutritional challenges.
One of the key takeaways from the trip was the realization that nutrition is not just a standalone subject but rather an amalgamation of diverse scientific realms. It serves as an applied science with profound implications for improving the nutritional well-being of communities on a broader scale. They witnessed how nutrition science extends beyond textbooks into real-world laboratories and initiatives aimed at enhancing public health and nutritional outcomes.
Students were accompanied by faculty members including Mrs. Priyanka Bakshi (Coordinator), Dr. Vinod Patil (Assistant Professor), and Dr. Jyothi Hiremath (Assistant Professor), the visit proved to be a transformative experience for all the blooming nutrition ambassadors.
As we reflect on this enriching excursion, it's evident that such experiences play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students, equipping them with the knowledge and inspiration to make meaningful contributions to the field of nutrition
