80th Independence Day Celebration

Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great patriotic spirit, enthusiasm, and pride on 15 August 2026 at the University campus. The celebration commemorated India's independence and provided an opportunity for students, faculty members, administrative staff, and other members of the University community to reflect upon the values of freedom, unity, democracy, national integration, and responsible citizenship.
The programme was organized with the objective of fostering patriotism and national consciousness among students and encouraging them to understand their responsibilities towards the nation and society.
The programme commenced with the arrival of the dignitaries, university authorities, faculty members, staff, and students at the designated venue. The National Flag was hoisted by Janab Dr. Syed Mustafa al-Hussaini Sahab, Hon’ble Director Campus, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi in the presence of the University community.
The flag hoisting was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, creating an atmosphere of patriotism and solemnity. The gathering paid tribute to the freedom fighters and national leaders whose sacrifices and contributions played a significant role in India's struggle for independence. Following the flag hoisting ceremony, Mr. Mir Vilayat Ali, Registrar, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi welcomed the guests and all the members of the University and students.

Pathan, Hon’ble Secretory General, Khaja Education Society, Kalaburagi, Prof. Syed Ashfaq Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, Mr. Mir Vilayat Ali, Registrar, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, Mr. Benny Kuriakose, Secretory, Khaja Education Society, Kalaburagi, Deans of various faculties attended the programme.
The celebration was enriched by a series of cultural and patriotic programmes presented by the students of the University. The performances reflected the spirit of patriotism, national integration, and India's rich cultural heritage. Patriotic songs, Group and individual performances
Speeches on India's freedom struggle were presented.
The performances received enthusiastic appreciation from the audience and created a strong sense of national pride among the participants.
Prof. Syed Ashfaq Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significant progress achieved by the University in the areas of research, academic excellence, and infrastructural development. He emphasized the University’s continued efforts towards strengthening its research ecosystem, enhancing academic and infrastructural facilities, and fostering innovation and excellence. He also highlighted the University’s growing recognition and reputation at the state and national levels, reflecting its commitment to quality education, impactful research, and holistic institutional development.
Dr. Syed Mustafa al-Hussaini Sahab, Hon’ble Director Campus, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi addressed the gathering. The address highlighted the significance of Independence Day and the journey of India as a democratic and developing nation. The Director, emphasized the importance of unity in diversity, constitutional values, social responsibility, education, scientific advancement, and ethical conduct. Students were encouraged to become responsible citizens and contribute positively to the development and progress of the nation.The role of higher education institutions in nurturing responsible, knowledgeable, and socially conscious citizens was also emphasized.
A large number of students, teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and University officials participated in the Independence Day celebration. The active participation of students demonstrated their enthusiasm and commitment towards national values and institutional activities.
Faculty members played an important role in coordinating and encouraging student participation, while the organizing teams ensured the smooth and systematic conduct of the programme.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Geetanjali R. Kamble, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Khaja Bandanawaz University, Kalaburagi, expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, University authorities, faculty members, staff, students, organizing committee, volunteers, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the Independence Day celebration.
