Programme Overview
Botany is also called plant biology or phytology. The study of plants is vital because they support almost all animal life on earth by generating large proportions of oxygen and food. M.Sc. Botany is the study of how plants produce food and how to increase yield.
The programme focuses on the study of weeds, which are a problem in agriculture, and the biology needed to control pathogens. Graduates can work as technical assistants, field assistants and scientific assistants in both private and government sectors. Private firms such as nursery farms and environmental consultancies are also good options for a botanist.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking admission into M.Sc. Botany must meet the following conditions:

Passed B.Sc. degree in Botany or Biological Sciences / Plant Biology as a major/cognate subject from a recognized university.

Secured at least 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent CGPA) in the qualifying undergraduate degree.
