Techniques for Brain Mapping & Functional Connectivity -Invited Lecture ( Online)

On 12-09-2044, Dr. M A Mujeeb from the Department of Biotechnology, Khaja Bandanawaz University was invited as a resource person to deliver expert talk at the Department of Psychology, School of Humanities, Jain University, Bengaluru on the topic, “Techniques for Brain Mapping & Functional Connectivity”

Brain mapping is a set of neuroscience techniques that studies the brain's structure and function, and the relationship between the two. It uses a variety of imaging and other techniques to create maps of the brain, which can help scientists understand how the brain works and how it performs various tasks

Dr. M A Mujeeb explained in detail, the different techniques involved in the brain imaging such as MRI, fMRI, CT, TMS, EEG.

This interdisciplinary talk converged the fields of Psychology and Science and let the audience understand how these techniques can help in diagnosing diseases like Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s and tumors of brain.

The speaker also highlighted the significance of techniques like Transcranial Magnetic stimulation in treating Depression and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) by taking case studies and referring the current research taking place in this field.

In reference to the Polygraph test (Lie Detector) the speaker addressed the issue of inaccuracies in the test that can produce inaccurate results because they can't distinguish between physiological changes caused by dishonesty and those caused by anxiety. This can lead to false positives or false negatives.

The students and staff were also provided information of the available research avenues and career options available in this domain.
